Opportunity
The owners wanted to create a neighborhood restaurant with creative food offerings while also being environmentally conscious with their operations. The owners therefore brought aboard design professionals experienced in sustainable design to help implement the vision.
Solution
Throughout the process we assisted the owner with integrating sustainable design concepts into site features embracing the idea of reduce, reuse, and recycle. The site and building both employ various low impact development systems including storm water runoff collection and infiltration via swales around the parking lot, concrete slabs cut from a demolished building and repurposed for walls, and solar panels installed atop the roof. The Green Restaurant Association has named this Greenville, SC restaurant the number one independent certified green restaurant in the country in August 2016.
