Opportunity
Town Creek Park in Pickens is an existing 95 acre city park that includes the Pickens Recreation Center. The park property has been underutilized for many years until we saw several opportunities for improved recreational offerings within the undeveloped acreage.
Solution
Following completion of a trail master plan by Ride Garden, two grants were pursued and awarded to the city totaling $500,000 in funding for initial improvements. With five planned phases total costs were projected at over $2 million dollars.
Darrohn Engineering served as lead consultant for the design and construction oversight of the first two of five phases with estimated project costs of $950,000. The facility includes a 3,600-ft multi-use greenway, several thousand feet of single track for mountain bikers, a 4,000-ft wooden/earthen Flowcoaster™ riding track, pump track, and other cutting-edge, customized bike features.
